How Much Does A European Maine Coon Cost?

What a responsibly bred European Maine Coon kitten actually costs in 2026 — and what the price reflects.

How Much Does A European Maine Coon Cost?

A responsibly bred European Maine Coon kitten in the United States typically ranges from $3,500 to $6,500 in 2026, depending on color, structure, bloodline, and whether the kitten is sold as pet, breeder, or show quality. Solid black, black smoke, silver tabby, and blue silver tabby kittens tend to sit at the higher end of the range; standard tabby and dilute colors at the lower end.

The price reflects real, accountable costs. Importing a single European Maine Coon adult from an established Russian, Polish, or Italian cattery costs $4,000 to $9,000 before any breeding has occurred. Full genetic panels, cardiology echocardiograms, vaccinations, and routine veterinary care for breeding adults add several thousand dollars per cat per year. Raising a litter in the home adds another several thousand in food, vet care, and time.

Pricing well below this range is a red flag. A $1,500 'European Maine Coon kitten' is almost certainly not a true European bloodline, almost certainly does not come from health-tested parents, and almost certainly does not include lifetime breeder support. The savings disappear quickly with the first veterinary surprise.

Pricing well above this range — $8,000+ for a pet — is usually marketing rather than substance. Show-quality kittens with championship potential and reservation rights are the exception.

At Ironmane Coons our reservation fee secures your place in a planned pairing. The remaining balance is paid before go-home day. We share the full pricing structure with Priority Waitlist families along with everything a kitten reservation includes — health testing paperwork, complete vaccination record, microchip, registration, lifetime breeder support, and our written health guarantee.

Frequently Asked

Common questions.

Why are European Maine Coons more expensive than American?
European Maine Coons typically cost more because the foundational bloodlines must be imported, and most European catteries have stricter — and more expensive — health testing protocols.
Does the reservation fee count toward the kitten?
Yes. The reservation fee is applied to the total price of the kitten and confirms your place in the pairing.
