Health Guarantee

A written, signed limited health guarantee accompanies every Ironmane kitten. The full terms, limitations, exclusions, and remedies are outlined in the final Kitten Purchase Contract. The summary below reflects the standards we hold ourselves to, but it does not replace or modify the signed agreement.

Genetic Screening

Our breeding cats are screened for known Maine Coon genetic concerns, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, known as HCM, spinal muscular atrophy, known as SMA, and pyruvate kinase deficiency, known as PKDef. Additional health markers may be reviewed through comprehensive DNA panels. Available screening records may be shared with approved families.

Cardiac Evaluation

Because HCM cannot be ruled out by genetic testing alone, cardiac health is considered as part of our breeding program. Breeding cats may receive cardiac evaluation through veterinary examination, echocardiogram, or specialist review when appropriate. No screening method can guarantee that a cat or kitten will never develop heart disease or another health condition later in life.

Veterinary Examination

Every kitten is examined by our veterinarian before leaving for their new home. This examination helps assess whether the kitten appears clinically ready for placement at that time. Kittens are living animals, and a normal veterinary exam before placement does not guarantee lifelong health or freedom from every possible illness.

Vaccinations & Deworming

Kittens receive age-appropriate FVRCP vaccinations and deworming according to veterinary guidance. Rabies vaccination is given when age and state law allow; any remaining boosters are documented for your veterinarian. Available veterinary records, vaccination documentation, and deworming history are provided at placement.

Microchip & Registration

Kittens may be microchipped before going home when included in the final placement terms. Registration details, pedigree documentation, testing records, and any additional health terms are outlined in the final signed Kitten Purchase Contract.

Our Limited Health Guarantee

Every Ironmane kitten goes home with a written, signed limited health guarantee as outlined in the final Kitten Purchase Contract. The guarantee covers only the specific conditions, timeframes, requirements, exclusions, and remedies clearly defined in that document. It is not a blanket warranty and does not guarantee lifelong health, adult size, future temperament, fertility, show success, breeding success, or freedom from every possible illness.

What Is Not Covered

Our guarantee does not cover conditions caused by injury, neglect, improper care, failure to follow veterinary guidance, failure to complete required veterinary examinations, failure to complete timely spay or neuter, exposure to infectious disease after placement, parasites or common treatable conditions after placement, environmental stress, or diet and living conditions unsuitable for the kitten. Indoor-only care, routine veterinary care, proper nutrition, and timely spay or neuter are required for the guarantee to remain in effect.

Lifetime Support

Our commitment does not end on Welcome Home Day. We remain available for guidance, questions, and support throughout your Maine Coon’s life. If a concern arises, we ask that you contact us first so we can help guide next steps.
