Reservation Agreement

A non-refundable reservation fee secures a priority position for an upcoming Ironmane pairing. The fee is credited in full toward the final placement price on Welcome Home Day. The reservation fee is not a deposit on a specific kitten, sex, color, pattern, size, temperament, or go-home date. It reflects a commitment to the reservation process, the time invested in each family, and the care taken in thoughtful kitten placement.

Selection is collaborative. We match kittens to families based on temperament, household fit, your priorities, and our knowledge of each individual kitten. Selection order follows the Priority Waitlist after Ironmane has made any breeder holdback decisions. If a litter does not produce a kitten matching your stated preference, your options are outlined in the next section.

Nature determines the makeup of every litter. If a pairing does not produce a kitten matching the sex, color, or pattern reserved and available for pet placement, the Family may choose, in writing within fourteen (14) days of being notified of the litter's composition, one of the following: a) select an available kitten of a different sex or color from the same litter at the agreed placement price; b) carry the Reservation Fee forward and remain on the Priority Waitlist for the next Ironmane pairing of their choosing, subject to availability; or c) receive a full refund of all monies paid to Ironmane Coons, including the Reservation Fee. This refund right applies only to the specific scenario described in this section. In all other circumstances the Reservation Fee remains non-refundable.

Every Ironmane kitten goes home with a written, signed limited health guarantee as outlined in our final Kitten Purchase Contract. Our breeding cats are selected with health, structure, temperament, and breed type in mind. We screen our program for known genetic concerns associated with Maine Coons, including HCM, SMA, and PKDef, and we provide available veterinary and health records at placement. Kittens are examined by our veterinarian, receive age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, and go home with documented veterinary care. Any testing, microchipping, registration, or additional health terms will be outlined in the final signed contract.

Pet placements come home under a spay/neuter agreement. Surgery timing should be discussed with your veterinarian and completed according to the terms of the final Kitten Purchase Contract. Breeding rights are not included with pet placement. They are reserved and granted only to approved catteries on a case-by-case basis through a separate written breeding agreement.

Kittens typically come home at approximately 12–14 weeks of age, depending on health, maturity, confidence, and development. Pickup occurs in person near Charleston, South Carolina, or, for approved families outside the Southeast, through a vetted private flight nanny who flies in-cabin with your kitten. Ironmane Coons does not ship kittens as cargo.

Ironmane kittens are placed as indoor-only companions. Declawing is strictly prohibited and may void any health guarantee. A high-quality diet, routine veterinary care, safe indoor living, and a stimulating home environment are expected for the life of the cat.

If circumstances ever change, your Ironmane kitten must never be surrendered to a shelter, rescue, pet store, laboratory, or third party without first contacting Ironmane Coons in writing. We ask that every family contact us first so we can help guide the safest possible outcome for the cat. Specific return and rehoming terms are outlined in the final Kitten Purchase Contract.

Our role does not end on Welcome Home Day. We remain a resource for guidance, questions, and the long arc of your Maine Coon’s life — from kittenhood through senior years.
