Blue Silver Maine Coons — A Color Guide
One of the rarest and most refined color expressions in the European Maine Coon.

Blue silver tabby is among the rarest and most refined color expressions in European Maine Coons. The 'blue' refers to a dilute of black — a soft, cool gray rather than the deep charcoal of a non-dilute. Layered as tabby markings over a brilliant silver ground, the effect is luminous.
Genetically, a blue silver tabby Maine Coon must inherit two copies of the dilute gene (d/d) from both parents to express the blue color, plus the agouti gene that produces tabby markings, plus the inhibitor gene that creates the silver ground. The combination is uncommon, which is why blue silver tabby kittens are produced in such limited numbers.
The coat itself is striking. The silver undercoat is brighter and cleaner than in a standard tabby, and the blue tabby markings sit on top with a soft, almost watercolor quality. The contrast is gentler than a black silver tabby — refined rather than graphic.
Our future queen Boone is a blue silver tabby European Maine Coon from Russian and Polish bloodlines. As she matures and clears the full Ironmane health protocol, her first pairing will be planned with a sire whose genetics support continued blue silver expression.
Families who specifically want a blue silver tabby European Maine Coon kitten should join the Priority Waitlist early. Blue silver tabby litters happen rarely; the families introduced first are the ones on the waitlist when the pairing is announced.
