Calhoun, in the household.
His coat is true solid black — dense, with the signature shawl ruff and full britches that come into their own as a European Maine Coon matures past three years. He currently weighs approximately 16 lbs and continues to fill out, as European males typically do through three to four years of age.
Calhoun carries N/N clear genetic results on the major inheritable conditions screened in Maine Coons — HCM, SMA, and PKDef — and is cardiology screened by echocardiogram. Every Ironmane king will pass these clearances before being bred, without exception.
He lives inside our home in the Charleston, South Carolina Lowcountry as a treasured member of the family — not a working stud kept apart. That daily handling is what allows his kittens to inherit the calm, family-room disposition we are known for.

About Calhoun.
- Where does Calhoun's bloodline come from?
- Calhoun descends from established European Maine Coon catteries in Russia and Italy — bloodlines selected for the heavier European structure, the deep brow, and the long, profound muzzle.
- Is Calhoun health tested?
- Yes. Calhoun carries N/N genetic results for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), SMA, and PKDef, and is cardiology screened by echocardiogram. Test results are shared with reserved families.
- How big do his kittens get?
- Mature males from European pairings typically reach 18–25+ lbs and continue filling out until three to four years of age. Females usually mature between 12–16 lbs. Genetics, nutrition, and time all matter.
